Art

Sky   Sea   Land

A connection to, and longing to be by the ocean and waterways, influences my art. I I’m interested in weather, atmosphere and climate conditions, and the way this makes us feel. Importantly, how these conditions affect the seascape and landscape, and the impact on fish and migratory birds. My work reflects emotion and mood. Hemingway wrote of the sea as if it was a woman; wild and sometimes wicked, that cannot be controlled and is affected by the moon.

My work speaks of the constant changing ocean and waterways. Stillness. Early morning warmth. Cold evenings. South-easterlies. Squalls. Rain.

While sometimes peaceful and quiet with opportunities for reflection, other work is stormy, intense and moody. I want the viewer to feel the emotion of the weather, the coldness, the atmosphere and the air. The force of nature influences our mood and shows us things about which we know very little.

The body of artwork contains a collection of paintings, migratory bird sculptures and ceramic fish.
